Key indicators
Virological surveillance:
7,072 positive tests since Week 9, including 517 in Week 18;
Positivity rate of 3.3% in hospital and private laboratories in Week 18.
Community-based surveillance
SOS Médecins: 525 cases of suspected COVID-19 per 10,000 cases (Week 18, 661 in Week 17*);
Sentinelles Network: 54 [10;98] (tele-)consultations for acute respiratory infections per 100,000 inhabitants (Week 18, 49 in Week 17).
Surveillance in nursing homes
467 reports submitted; among residents, 1,971 cases including 176 deaths in long-term care facilities as of May 4, 2020.
Hospital surveillance
Oscour® Network: 231 visits for suspected COVID-19 per 10,000 visits (Week 18, 395 in Week 17);
Sentinel intensive care units:
53% of cases were aged 65 and older, and 79% of cases had at least one comorbidity;
88% of cases who died in these units had at least one comorbidity;
Cases under 60 years of age (n=133) were more frequently overweight or obese (43% vs. 30%) than cases over 60 years of age (n=271).
Mortality Surveillance
No excess all-cause mortality (all ages and among those aged 65 and older) was observed in week 17.
