From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.
In Occitanie, from May 1 to July 1, 2025, 51 imported cases of dengue and 77 imported cases of chikungunya were identified. A first locally acquired case of chikungunya was identified in the Hérault department. A second locally acquired case of chikungunya in Occitanie was identified in the Gard department.
To limit the risk of local transmission, 152 entomological surveys and 81 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of the cases.
