According to data available as of September 12, 2017, from the region’s 65 emergency departments, 103 emergency department visits for asthma involving children under 15 years of age were recorded in the Occitanie region during week 36 of 2017 (between September 4 and 10, Figure 1). The increase observed compared to the previous week (2017-35) is +43% and is consistent with what was observed in previous years. These asthma-related visits account for less than 2% of total activity for this age group (Figure 2). Nearly one-third of the children were hospitalized after their emergency department visit (30.1%).The trend observed is similar to that seen at the national level (Figures 3 and 4). The four SOS Médecins associations performed 21 medical procedures related to asthma in children under 15 during the same week (consultations at a dedicated center or at home).
