Two outbreaks of salmonellosis caused by Salmonella Enteritidis PT8, France, June–July and October 2001

This article presents the methodology and results of various investigations conducted by the Aveyron Departmental Directorate for Social Affairs (DDASS), in collaboration with the CIRE du Sud-Ouest and the InVS, during two salmonellosis outbreaks in June–July and October 2001. The results of these investigations indicate that both outbreaks were linked to the consumption of young Cantal cheese made from raw milk.
