In the Pays Coeur d'Hérault region, access to healthcare is a top priority.

The Mobile Emergency and On-Call Care Unit (UMUPS) of Coeur d'Hérault aims to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in isolated rural areas. On average, it takes the Mobile Unit 16 minutes to respond to a call within the Pays Coeur d'Hérault region. Like many regions across France, this area suffers from a shortage of healthcare professionals in rural areas. Hence the creation of this mobile team, consisting of a doctor and a firefighter. Initial results demonstrate the effectiveness of this initiative, which is jointly supported by local governments, healthcare professionals, and public authorities.
