Public Health Surveillance in the Aquitaine Region. Epidemiological Update as of December 28, 2012.

Key Points

Influenza and Outbreaks of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) in Nursing Homes

Both nationally and in Aquitaine, there has been a marked increase in most influenza surveillance indicators. Based on the Sentinelles® network, the national epidemic threshold was exceeded in week 51, although it is not yet possible to speak of an "epidemic" (the threshold must be exceeded for two consecutive weeks). In terms of viral circulation, according to GROG samples, type A viruses predominate over type B viruses; among the type A viruses, the subtypes A(H3N2) and A(H1N1)pdm09 are notably present.
