Increased activity for influenza and influenza-like illness; transition to the pre-epidemic phase.
Week 50-2021 (December 13–19, 2021):
SOS-Médecins: 489 consultations for flu-like illness recorded, representing 4.1% of total activity (compared to 2.9% in week 49)
Oscour®: 79 emergency room visits for influenza or influenza-like illness, representing 0.30% of total activity (compared to 0.25% in week 49), of which 13% resulted in hospitalization. 66% of these visits involved children under 15 years of age
Virology data:
Influenza A: 21 positive samples at Bordeaux University Hospital, 14 at Poitiers University Hospital, and 7 at Limoges University Hospital, representing a regional positivity rate of 7% (compared to 3% in week 49)
Influenza B: no positive samples at the Bordeaux, Limoges, and Poitiers University Hospitals
Severe influenza cases: one severe case admitted to intensive care reported since the start of surveillance in week 40 of 2021 (no cases in week 50)
Clustered cases of acute respiratory infection (ARI) in ESMS4: no episodes reported in week 50
