Publication of Regional Indicators for Hepatitis B and C Screening and Prevalence by the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance In this document, the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS) presents, for the first time, the main regional indicators for hepatitis B and C surveillance that it has available. These indicators pertain to hepatitis B and C screening (HBs antigen and anti-HCV antibodies) in the general population and prevalence in specific populations (blood donors, hospitalized patients, and people who use drugs).This summary highlights regional disparities in terms of screening activity, positivity rates, and the prevalence of hepatitis B and C:
the overseas departments (DOM) and the Île-de-France region are the areas most affected by the hepatitis B virus;
Hepatitis C screening activity is higher in the DOM than in mainland France;
the positivity rate for the hepatitis C virus is higher in the Île-de-France and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA) regions than in other regions.
These disparities reflect specific regional epidemiological characteristics, which may require dedicated studies, particularly in the French overseas departments.
