From 2006 to 2013, 2 to 6 biologically confirmed imported cases of chikungunya were reported each year between May and November in departments colonized by Aedes albopictus. For the year 2014, from May 1 to July 4, this number is much higher than in previous years (126 cases), in connection with the chikungunya epidemic currently raging in the Caribbean.
