COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Nouvelle-Aquitaine as of February 25, 2021

Key Points

A slowdown in the spread of SARS-CoV-2 has been observed in the region since late January, although indicators remain at a high level.

In week 07-2021 (February 15–21), the number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases remained stable, with 6,622 new confirmed cases in the region. The incidence rate also remained stable at 110.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 113.7 in week 06-2021.

The positivity rate is slightly higher, close to the warning threshold, at 4.7% (compared to 4.2% in week 06-2021). Among asymptomatic individuals tested, this rate is 2.9% (2.6% in week 06) compared to 11.1% among symptomatic individuals (9.9% in week 06).

In Week 07, the testing rate fell slightly, with 2,334 tests performed per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 2,731 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 06, a decrease of 14.7%.
