COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Nouvelle-Aquitaine as of December 1, 2022

Key Points

In week 47 of 2022, the increase in virological indicators estimated from antigen tests continues, and the effective reproduction number (R_eff) estimated from testing data is significantly greater than 1 (R_eff = 1.32 as of November 29, 2022). This reflects an acceleration in the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. It should be noted that this acceleration is accompanied by an increase in the use of emergency care.

Increased viral circulation is being recorded in all departments of the region, with the exception of Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Haute-Vienne, where circulation appears to be relatively stable.

In week 47 of 2022, the rise in the incidence rate continues across all age groups, except among those aged 80–89 (stability alongside a decrease in testing activity), and the positivity rate is rising in most age groups (relative stability among those under 10 and those aged 20–39).
