From January 21 to April 14, 2020, 3,228 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Nouvelle-Aquitaine (+662 cases since April 7; 103,573 cases in France)

Monitoring of hospital and private laboratories
The proportion of positive tests for SARS-CoV-2 has remained stable over the past two weeks in hospital laboratories and has decreased in private laboratories. However, an increase in the number of positive tests was observed at the end of week 15 of 2020 (April 10 and 11), linked to the launch of testing in nursing homes on April 10
The departments of Vienne, Haute-Vienne, Corrèze, Creuse, and Gironde have the highest incidence rates
Community-based surveillance
SOS Médecins: Decline in COVID-19 activity for the second consecutive week, with 548 cases for suspected COVID-19 in Week 15 of 2020, representing 10% of total activity (1,040 cases, or 16%, in Week 14)
Private laboratories (3 labs): 6% of tests were positive in Week 15 of 2020 (10% in Week 14 of 2020), compared to an average of 20% in France
Surveillance in long-term care facilities, including nursing homes
1,064 cases, including 113 deaths reported as of April 14, 2020
Surveillance in hospitals
Oscour® Network
Decrease in emergency department activity for COVID-19 for the second consecutive week, with 1,212 visits for suspected COVID-19 in Week 15 of 2020, representing 8% of total hospital emergency department activity (1,708 visits, or 12%, in Week 14 of 2020)
The hospitalization rate following visits for suspected COVID-19, an indicator of severity upon arrival at the emergency department, continued to rise in Week 15 of 2020 (54% compared to 47% in Week 14) and remains high among those aged 65 and older (83% in Week 15 of 2020)
Hospital laboratories at the Bordeaux, Limoges, and Poitiers university hospitals: 12% of tests were positive in Week 15 of 2020 (12% in Week 14 of 2020)
Sentinel intensive care units: among the 147 severe cases recorded by the units in this network, the majority are men (72%), are aged 65 and older (54%), and have at least one risk factor (67%); note that one-third of the cases in this network come from another region (n=51).
Mortality surveillance
As of April 14, 2020, 207 deaths had been reported by hospitals in Nouvelle-Aquitaine
Among the 240 deaths recorded in the electronic death certification system, 64% had known comorbidities and 77% were aged 75 or older
No excess mortality was detected through week S14-2020 (March 30 to April 5, 2020) at the departmental and Nouvelle-Aquitaine regional levels
