COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Nouvelle-Aquitaine as of April 15, 2021

Key Points

SARS-CoV-2 remains highly prevalent in the region, with an incidence rate of 197.6 per 100,000 inhabitants. This incidence rate includes Easter Monday, a holiday on which testing activity dropped significantly, compounded by the closure of schools starting April 2, which halted the mass testing campaigns organized in these institutions. Thus, the decrease in the incidence rate does not reflect the current dynamics of the epidemic. The positivity rate is rising and remains above the 5.0% alert threshold in week 14.
