Two locally acquired cases of chikungunya detected in the region

  • Two locally acquired cases of chikungunya in the region: one case confirmed on July 28, 2025, in the Landes department and one case confirmed on July 29, 2025, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department;

  • Investigations, management, and prevention measures are underway.

Following additional testing, the locally acquired case of chikungunya identified in Gironde was ruled out by the National Reference Center (CNR) for Arboviruses.

Summary of imported cases in the region

  • From May 1 to July 29, 2025, 135 imported cases of chikungunya and 92 imported cases of dengue identified as probable or confirmed, and no imported cases of Zika;

  • Most of these individuals were returning from a stay in an overseas department or region.
