Surveillance of bronchiolitis in the Normandy region. Update as of October 20, 2016.

Key Points

Monitoring of regional indicators indicates that activity related to bronchiolitis in infants is on the rise. This trend is also being observed in mainland France by Santé publique France. Virological surveillance by the laboratories at the Caen and Rouen university hospitals shows significant circulation of rhinoviruses and low circulation of RSV. Given the current school vacation period, a temporary decline in these activities is expected, as observed during previous seasonal epidemics. Monitoring of indicators in the coming weeks will confirm this trend.
