Influenza Surveillance in Upper and Lower Normandy. Update as of December 20, 2012.
National Situation
According to the Inserm Sentinelles network, in week 2012-50, the incidence of influenza-like illness cases seen in general practice was estimated at 107 cases per 100,000 inhabitants for mainland France (compared to 80 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in week 2012-49). This incidence is below the epidemic threshold (169 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in week 2012-50). Influenza activity remains low. According to the Grog network of physicians, the gradual increase in the number of consultations for acute respiratory infections (ARI) in mainland France continued in week 2012-50. The frequency of detection of influenza A and B viruses in respiratory specimens is increasing.
Observations made in week 2012-50 show that influenza virus circulation has intensified in mainland France.
