Influenza Surveillance in Normandy. Update as of March 3, 2016.

Key Points

Monitoring of regional indicators for week 2016-08 shows that the seasonal influenza epidemic is continuing in Normandy. An increase in seasonal influenza activity has been observed in both community-based care and hospitals, following a decrease in the previous week. This increase occurs as Zone B schools have resumed classes and as influenza B virus is the predominant strain circulating; available data indicate that this strain primarily affects children under 15. Nationally, the influenza epidemic remained present in all regions of mainland France and was nearing its peak. No signs of particular severity have been identified at this stage of the epidemic.
