Hepatitis A Surveillance in the Normandy Region. Update as of November 10, 2015.

Epidemiological Situation

In 2014, 31 cases of acute hepatitis A were reported in Lower Normandy and Upper Normandy, with risk exposures including contact with a confirmed case or travel abroad, and a spike in cases among 6- to 15-year-olds. These findings confirm the need to maintain preventive measures, such as enhanced hygiene practices, vaccination of contacts to prevent the spread of the virus, and preventive vaccination of unimmunized adults and children over one year of age who will be traveling to a country where hepatitis A is endemic and/or where hygiene conditions are poor.
