Health Surveillance of Winter Outbreaks in Normandy. Update as of December 28, 2016.

Key Points

As in previous weeks, the current epidemic situations regarding bronchiolitis, acute gastroenteritis, and influenza prompt us to continue compiling information on the epidemiological contexts of these three seasonal winter illnesses monitored by Cire Normandie.Indeed, a peak in activity related to bronchiolitis in infants may be reached in the region, though this remains to be confirmed in the coming weeks. Activity related to acute gastroenteritis has stabilized at high levels in the region. Observations from previous winter seasons show that this activity is likely to remain at high levels over the coming weeks. Finally, the increase in activity related to seasonal influenza continued in week 2016-51. The region is currently in an epidemic phase. This increase in activity is therefore expected to continue over the coming weeks.
