Health Surveillance of Bronchiolitis in Upper and Lower Normandy. Update as of October 25, 2012.

National Situation

According to the update dated 10/23/12 (InVS), the number of emergency room visits by children under 2 years of age for bronchiolitis is on the rise (Figure 1). This increase is particularly pronounced in the Île-de-France region and in the northern half of the country. According to data from the GROG network for week 42 of 2012, activity related to respiratory syncytial virus (number of bronchiolitis cases in children under 2 years of age seen by sentinel physicians, number of RSV isolates or detections) is gradually increasing, especially in northern France.
