Health Surveillance of Bronchiolitis in Upper and Lower Normandy. Update as of December 20, 2012.

National Situation

According to the update dated December 18, 2012 (InVS), the current epidemiological situation shows that the number of visits to hospital emergency departments for bronchiolitis in infants is beginning to decline in France (Figure 1). The peak of the epidemic appears to have passed in the Île-de-France region in calendar week 49 of 2012 and is likely to pass in all other metropolitan regions in the coming days. The dynamics of this season’s bronchiolitis epidemic are similar to those observed during the 2011–2012 season. According to the Grog network of physicians, activity related to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) appears to have reached an epidemic peak in week 2012-50 in metropolitan France.
