Health Surveillance of Bronchiolitis in Normandy. Update as of November 23, 2017.

Key Points

Monitoring of all regional indicators (emergency facilities, SOS Médecins) shows that activity related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age increased in calendar week 46 of 2016. Similar trends were observed in mainland France. Furthermore, virological surveillance by the laboratories at the Caen and Rouen university hospitals shows an increase in the circulation of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

This situation marks the start of the epidemic phase in Normandy.

Based on epidemiological data from previous winter seasons in Normandy, the rise in bronchiolitis-related activity is expected to continue in the coming weeks.
