Health Surveillance of Acute Gastroenteritis in Upper and Lower Normandy. Update as of April 23, 2015.
Situation in Lower and Upper Normandy
Analysis of the indicators shows that activity related to acute gastroenteritis at SOS Médecins continues to decline, a trend that began in week 2015-04 in Lower Normandy and Upper Normandy, following a slight uptick in activity during the month of March. Furthermore, activity related to acute gastroenteritis in emergency departments across the two regions decreased significantly last week, reaching levels nearly equivalent to those observed outside of epidemic periods. Sporadic clusters of acute gastroenteritis cases are still being observed in elderly care facilities. For all monitored indicators, levels recorded outside the winter epidemic period are expected to be reached by the end of May, in line with what is typically observed in both regions at this time of year. This epidemiological update on the surveillance of the acute gastroenteritis outbreak is the last one for the 2014/2015 winter season. However, the Cire Normandie will continue to monitor these indicators for both regions. A summary of the winter surveillance will be sent to you shortly.
