Health Monitoring in the Normandy Region. Update as of May 4, 2023.
Key Points
COVID-19
COVID-19 activity remains at low levels (emergency departments and SOS Médecins). Since Week 11, the XBB.1.16 variant, classified as a Variant of Interest (VOI) on April 17, 2023, by the WHO, has been detected sporadically. Its virological characteristics are comparable to those of other XBB recombinants, particularly XBB.1.5, but no clinically concerning signals have been associated with XBB.1.16. More information is available in the risk analysis dated April 26, 2023.
Influenza and Influenza-Like Illnesses
Normandy has entered a non-epidemic phase for influenza, with low and declining activity for influenza-like illnesses (emergency departments, post-visit hospitalizations, and SOS Médecins).
Acute gastroenteritis
Activity for acute gastroenteritis has been decreasing for the past two weeks and remains at a low level for SOS Médecins as well as in emergency departments.
