Health Monitoring in the Normandy Region. Update as of December 24, 2020.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • In week 51, several indicators are on the rise in the Normandy region, notably the incidence rate and the effective reproduction number (which reflects the rate of spread). The test positivity rate is decreasing compared to the previous week. These indicators were influenced by the mass testing campaign organized in the Le Havre Seine Métropole urban community from December 14 to 19.

  • Regarding mortality, the age-standardized all-cause mortality rate has been classified as moderately elevated since Week 43, except for Week 49, when it was highly elevated. The weekly number of deaths among patients hospitalized for Covid-19 is decreasing.

Bronchiolitis

  • In week 51, bronchiolitis activity remains low and below levels seen in previous years. A first case of RSV was isolated in a patient hospitalized in week 51 in the laboratories of Normandy university hospitals. Current respiratory infections are primarily caused by rhinoviruses.

Gastroenteritis

  • Gastroenteritis activity is increasing but remains at a low level in week 51.
