Key Points

  • The number of HAV cases increased significantly in 2017, reaching three times the level seen during the same periods in the three previous years. This increase primarily affects men aged 15 to 49 living in Paris;

  • the majority of MSM surveyed reported having sex with casual partners, had a co-infection, and more than half reported being HIV-positive;

  • the strains identified were strains circulating in Europe (RIVM-HAV-16-090 and VRD-521-2106).
