Key points

Lower Respiratory Tract Infections

  • In hospitals: The rate of emergency department visits for acute lower respiratory tract infections (ALRTIs) was down, accounting for 2.4% of total activity. The number of emergency department visits for ALRTIs continued to decline, with 1,505 visits (-13.3%).

  • In the community: At SOS Médecins, the number of procedures remained stable at 916 (-4.3%). The activity rate for lower respiratory tract infections was also stable at 9.0% (-0.6 percentage points)

Influenza and influenza-like illness

  • Indicators for influenza-like illnesses were sharply down across all age groups, both in private practice and in hospitals. In emergency departments, visits for influenza-like illnesses accounted for less than 1% of activity. In SOS Médecins data, the share of activity for influenza-like illnesses accounted for less than 3% of procedures.

  • End of the flu epidemic in Île-de-France since S08.

COVID-19

  • Emergency department visits: The number of emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19 decreased in S10 across all age groups. The total number of visits remained low at 37.

  • SOS Médecins: The number of cases involving suspected COVID-19 remained stable in Week 10 across all age groups. The total number of cases remained low at 26.

  • SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater: In Week 10, the overall downward trend in SARS-CoV-2 levels in wastewater continued (6 of the 7 wastewater treatment plants have interpretable results).

Asthma

  • An increase in the number of emergency room visits and the number of visits followed by hospitalization for asthma in S10, compared to S09, among those over 15 years of age and, to a lesser extent, among children aged 2 to 14.

  • There was also an increase in the number of asthma-related procedures at SOS Médecins for these two age groups.
