Health Monitoring in the Île-de-France Region. Bulletin of July 9, 2025.
Key Points
Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika
97 cases of dengue and 117 cases of chikungunya, all imported, were documented in Île-de-France from May 1 to July 7, 2025.
As of July 8, 2025, 10 outbreaks of local transmission have been identified in mainland France: 9 of chikungunya (25 cases in total) and 1 of dengue (1 case). These outbreaks occurred in the following regions: PACA, Corsica, Occitanie, ARA, Grand Est, and Nouvelle-Aquitaine (in the latter two, this marks the first time that local transmission of an arbovirus has been identified).
Heatwave
All departments in the Île-de-France region (Paris, Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines, Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-St-Denis, Val-de-Marne, Val-d’Oise) were under an orange alert on Monday, July 30, as well as on Wednesday, July 2, and under a red alert on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
Increase between July 1, 2025, and July 2, 2025, in the proportion of emergency room visits for hyperthermia, dehydration, and hyponatremia across all age groups, and in the proportion of hospitalizations following such visits for the same conditions among all age groups and those aged 75 and older.
Increase between July 1, 2025, and July 2, 2025, in SOS Médecins consultations for heatstroke and dehydration among all age groups, particularly among those aged 15–74.
COVID-19
The use of outpatient care and emergency departments for suspected COVID-19 remains at low and generally stable levels.
The detection of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater is trending downward. Therefore, the data are not detailed in this section.
Malaria
Two cases of locally acquired malaria, with no known epidemiological link but sharing the same Plasmodium strain, are currently under investigation in Seine-et-Marne.
At least one imported infected mosquito is the most likely source of the infections. Since cases of locally acquired malaria are at higher risk of severe disease due to delayed diagnosis, it is important for healthcare professionals to remain vigilant.
