West Nile virus infections

• Two confirmed cases of locally transmitted West Nile virus infection have been detected in Île-de-France in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis. This marks the first identification of local vector-borne transmission of West Nile virus in Seine-Saint-Denis, and more broadly in Île-de-France.

COVID-19

• The number of emergency room visits and procedures at SOS Médecins for suspected COVID-19 cases increased slightly and mainly involved children under 15 years of age.

Asthma

• The summer vacation period corresponds to the time when the risk of asthma exacerbation is lowest. Long-term treatment for asthma patients is sometimes discontinued during the summer at the initiative of the doctor or the family, with instructions given to parents to resume it before school starts. It is important to resume long-term treatment at least 8 days before school starts, to ensure a back-to-school period free of asthma.

Heat Wave, Extreme Heat

• In week 33, the entire Île-de-France region was under an orange heat wave alert, which ended on August 15.
