Health Monitoring in Île-de-France. Bulletin of July 2, 2025.
Key Points
Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika
90 cases of dengue and 110 cases of chikungunya, all imported, were reported in Île-de-France from May 1 to July 1, 2025.
As of July 1, 2025, 7 episodes of local transmission of chikungunya were identified in mainland France (n = 14 cases). These episodes occurred in the following regions: PACA, Corsica, Occitanie, ARA, and Grand Est (where local transmission of an arbovirus was identified for the first time).
Heatwave
All departments in the Île-de-France region (Paris, Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines, Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-St-Denis, Val-de-Marne, Val-d’Oise) were placed on a yellow alert on Friday, June 28, 2025. Over the weekend, the eight Île-de-France departments were placed on an orange heat wave alert. Note that there was an increase in emergency room visits (rising from about 20 cases per day at the start of the week to 30 by the end of the week) but hospitalizations remained stable (around 15 per day) following emergency room visits for the health indicators of hyperthermia, dehydration, and hyponatremia during the weekend episode. There was an increase in SOS Médecins consultations for heatstroke and dehydration throughout the entire period.
Enterovirus meningitis
Increase in emergency room visits for meningitis (enterovirus) over the past two weeks. Children under 15 and adults aged 15 to 44 were the most affected. This increase remains within the expected fluctuations for this time of year.
COVID-19
The use of outpatient care and emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19 remains at low and generally stable levels. The detection of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater is following a downward trend. The data are therefore not detailed in this section.
Malaria
At least one case of locally acquired malaria in the Île-de-France region linked to a package, and another (suspected) case linked to an airport is currently under investigation. These cases are at higher risk of severe disease due to delayed diagnosis.
