COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of May 12, 2022

In week 18 in Île-de-France, the decline in virological and hospital indicators continued, confirming the decrease in SARS-CoV-2 circulation. However, circulation remained at high levels, calling for continued vigilance.
The crude incidence rate stood at 272 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and decreased for the fifth consecutive week.
The same downward trend was observed for the testing rate (1,903 tests per 100,000 inhabitants) and the positivity rate (13.1%) at the regional level and across all departments in the Île-de-France region
The BA.2 sublineage of the Omicron variant has been predominant in Île-de-France since late February 2022.
SI-VIC data showed a decrease in new hospitalizations, new admissions to intensive care, and COVID-19-related hospital deaths.
Vaccination coverage is increasing slowly in the region.
