COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of March 31, 2022
Key Points
In week 12 in Île-de-France, virological and hospital indicators continued to rise. The high circulation of SARS-CoV-2 calls for continued vigilance.
The crude incidence rate stood at 1,232 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and rose for the third time after eight consecutive weeks of decline.
The same upward trend was observed for testing rates and positivity rates (24.2%).
The BA.2 sublineage of the Omicron variant has been predominant in Île-de-France since late February 2022.
SI-VIC data showed an increase in new hospitalizations and new admissions to intensive care. The decline in COVID-19-related hospital deaths was slowing.
Vaccination coverage is increasing slowly in the region.
Given the high and rising viral circulation, vaccinating all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with high adherence to other preventive measures.
