COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of March 24, 2022

Key Points

In Week 11 in Île-de-France, an increase in virological indicators and hospitalizations was observed. This rise from already high levels of epidemiological indicators calls for continued vigilance.

  • The crude incidence rate stood at 690 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and rose for the second time after eight consecutive weeks of decline.

  • The same upward trend was also observed for the testing rate.

  • The positivity rate rose again, reaching 19.3%.

  • The BA.2 sublineage of the Omicron variant has been predominant in Île-de-France since late February 2022.

  • SI-VIC data showed a slight increase in new hospitalizations. New admissions to intensive care and COVID-19-related hospital deaths continued to decline.

  • Vaccination coverage is progressing slowly in the region.

  • A summary of the fifth wave is available in this PER.

Given the high and rising viral circulation, vaccinating all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with strict adherence to other preventive measures.
