In week 24 (June 14–20, 2021), the decline in all epidemiological indicators of SARS-CoV-2 circulation continued in Île-de-France. However, these indicators remained at levels higher than the national indicators.

In Île-de-France, the regional incidence rate for Week 24 was declining and stood at 31 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The testing rate remained stable, while the positivity rate continued to decline. The number of new hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients and new admissions to critical care units continued to decline in week 24. In contrast, the number of deaths among hospitalized COVID-19 patients increased in week 24 after 8 weeks of decline. Significant fluctuations around fortunately lower death tolls are not unexpected.

At the same time, vaccination in Île-de-France continued to progress. As of June 21, 2021, vaccination coverage for at least one dose received stood at 46.6% and at 25.3% for the full course.

Although epidemiological indicators continued to decline in week 24, confirming the slowdown in viral circulation, the latter remained high in Île-de-France compared to other regions. Thus, in the context of the ongoing lifting of collective restriction measures, incomplete vaccination coverage, and the circulation of variants of concern, it is essential to maintain a high level of adherence to individual prevention measures, testing, and isolation of cases and at-risk contacts.
