COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of January 27, 2022
Key Points
In Week 03 in Île-de-France, viral circulation remained very intense in the region. The public health situation appeared to be improving but remained dire.
The crude incidence rate stood at 3,276 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and decreased for the second consecutive week, though it remained very high amid a decline in testing rates.
The positivity rate continued to rise, reaching 28.2%, its highest level since the start of the epidemic.
The Omicron variant (21K, B.1.1.529), which has been the dominant strain in Île-de-France since Week 51, continued to spread rapidly in the region.
SI-VIC data showed a decline in new hospitalizations and new ICU admissions. However, COVID-19-related hospital deaths continued to rise.
Vaccination coverage with at least one dose stood at 75.7%, 74.4% for the full course, and 47.0% for the booster dose.
Given the high level of viral circulation, vaccinating all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with strict adherence to other preventive measures.
