COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of February 9, 2023

  • Incidence, positivity, and testing rates remained stable at low levels.

  • The BA.5 lineage of the Omicron variant accounted for the majority of sequencing results, and its BQ.1.1 sublineage remained predominant, although a decline was observed in favor of the XBB.1.5 recombinant.

  • Visits to community medical emergency rooms for “suspected COVID-19” and to hospital emergency departments were rising moderately, particularly among those aged 15–65.

  • The number of new hospitalizations and the number of new admissions to critical care units remained stable. The number of hospital deaths related to COVID-19 was decreasing.

  • The total number of new COVID-19 cases reported by healthcare facilities was decreasing.
