COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of February 17, 2022
Key Points
In Week 06 in Île-de-France, viral circulation remained at high levels compared to previous waves of the epidemic. The public health situation continued to improve but remained uncertain.
The crude incidence rate stood at 818 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and declined for the fifth consecutive week, though it remained high amid a decrease in testing rates.
The positivity rate decreased for the third consecutive week, yet remained high at 18.0%.
The Omicron variant (21K, B.1.1.529), which has been the dominant strain in Île-de-France since Week 51, continued to spread rapidly in the region.
SI-VIC data again showed a decline in new hospitalizations, new ICU admissions, and COVID-19-related hospital deaths.
Vaccination coverage with at least one dose stood at 76.1%, at 75.0% for the full course, and at 51.3% for the booster dose.
Given the high level of viral circulation, vaccinating all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with strict adherence to other preventive measures.
