COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of February 10, 2022

Key Points

In Week 05 in Île-de-France, viral circulation remained very intense in the region. The public health situation continued to improve but remained poor.

  • The crude incidence rate stood at 1,450 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and decreased for the fourth consecutive week, though it remained high amid a decline in testing rates.

  • The positivity rate decreased for the second consecutive week, yet remained very high at 23.5%.

  • The Omicron variant (21K, B.1.1.529), which has been the dominant strain in Île-de-France since Week 51, continued to spread rapidly in the region.

  • SI-VIC data showed a decline in new hospitalizations, new ICU admissions, and COVID-19-related hospital deaths.

  • Vaccination coverage with at least one dose stood at 76.1%, at 74.8% for the full course, and at 49.8% for the booster dose.

Given the high level of viral circulation, vaccinating all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with strict adherence to other preventive measures.
