COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of April 21, 2022
Key Points
In Week 15 in Île-de-France, the concurrent decline in virological and hospital indicators confirmed the decrease in SARS-CoV-2 circulation. However, circulation remained at high levels, warranting continued vigilance.
The crude incidence rate stood at 1,067 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and decreased for the second consecutive week.
The same downward trend was observed for the testing rate (4,515 tests per 100,000 inhabitants).
The positivity rate (23.6%) decreased at the regional level and across all departments in the Île-de-France region, for the first time after five consecutive weeks of increases.
The BA.2 sublineage of the Omicron variant has been predominant in Île-de-France since late February 2022.
SI-VIC data showed a decrease in new hospitalizations and new admissions to intensive care, as well as a stabilization in COVID-19-related hospital deaths.
Vaccination coverage is increasing slowly in the region.
Given the continued high level of viral circulation, vaccinating all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with strict adherence to other preventive measures.
