Key Points
Epidemiological Situation of Chickenpox in Nord-Pas-de-Calais-PicardieIn Nord-Pas-de-Calais, outpatient and hospital indicators are showing a sharp decline, confirming the downward trend observed in recent weeks. However, levels remain high.In Picardie, the rate of consultations at SOS Médecins remains at a typical level, although it has risen slightly.
Bronchiolitis SurveillanceIn mainland France, the decline in activity continues, both in outpatient and hospital settings. The epidemic peak has been passed in all regions. In Nord-Pas-de-Calais, the decline observed in recent weeks continues, and the rate of consultations at SOS Médecins is below the threshold for the second consecutive week. The epidemic is ending. In Picardy, the rate of consultations at SOS Médecins is once again below the alert threshold, and the number of isolated RSV cases continues to decline. The epidemic is coming to an end.
Surveillance of influenza-like illnesses In mainland France, an epidemic has been declared. Most regions have been declared to be in the epidemic phase, and the remaining regions are in the pre-epidemic phase. In Nord-Pas-de-Calais, the significant increase in flu-related activity observed at SOS Médecins (with the regional alert threshold being exceeded) and in hospital emergency departments, along with virological data, have led to the region being declared in the epidemic phase. In Picardy, due to the more moderate increase in the proportion of flu-related consultations among SOS Médecins cases and the absence, this week, of an increase in flu virus isolations among hospitalized patients, the region remains in the pre-epidemic phase.
Surveillance of severe influenza cases hospitalized in intensive care units In mainland France, 55 severe influenza cases have been reported since the start of surveillance. These are predominantly confirmed cases caused by type A viruses. In Nord-Pas-de-Calais, two new severe cases of influenza were reported in week 04, bringing the total number of cases reported since the start of surveillance to 3. In Picardy, no new severe cases were reported. Since the start of surveillance, a single severe case was reported in early November.
Surveillance of Acute Gastroenteritis In mainland France, the epidemic continues, with the threshold used by the Sentinelles network being exceeded for the fourth consecutive week. In Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy, outpatient and inpatient activity remains stable at high levels that do not exceed regional alert thresholds.
