Health Surveillance in Nord-Pas-de-Calais. Epidemiological Update, April 3, 2013.

Key Points

Influenza: In mainland France, all indicators continue to decline; the end of the 2012–2013 influenza epidemic has been confirmed. Influenza viruses are still circulating at low but persistent levels and may be responsible for sporadic cases. In Nord-Pas-de-Calais, the number of emergency room visits has been steadily declining for over a month, and surveillance indicators from the SOS Médecins association have fallen below the regional epidemic threshold for the first time since week 50 of 2012.

Acute gastroenteritis: Nationally, the incidence of acute gastroenteritis cases has risen slightly above the epidemic threshold. Regionally, outpatient surveillance indicators (SOS Médecins) are on the rise and have returned above the regional epidemic threshold, while the number of emergency department visits for acute gastroenteritis is declining.
