Health Monitoring in the Hauts-de-France Region. Update as of October 16, 2020.

Key Points - COVID-19

In Week 41, there was a significant and widespread deterioration in the indicators tracking the progression of the epidemic in the Hauts-de-France region. This trend, regardless of the data source, reflects a community-wide spread of the epidemic in the region, with an increase in healthcare utilization and new hospitalizations. The number of admissions to intensive care units remained stable. Like the incidence rate in the general population, the incidence rate among those aged 65 and older continues to rise, with a sharp increase observed (+48%) in Week 41, associated with a significant rise in the positivity rate and testing rate for this age group. The highest level of vigilance must be maintained for at-risk individuals, particularly the elderly, given the vulnerability of this population, which accounts for the highest number of deaths due to SARS-CoV-2.

Since October 12, the Aisne department has been classified as having a high vulnerability level, following the rapid upward trend in virological indicators, particularly among those aged 65 and older, and the geographic spread of the virus outside of reported clusters.
