Influenza Outbreak Update in French Guiana. As of February 13, 2015.

Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

Since early November 2014, activity related to influenza-like illnesses has remained low despite a slight resurgence observed since late January (S2015-05).Of the 60 samples analyzed at the IPG’s CNR Influenzae during this period, one Influenza A/H3N2 virus and one Influenza B virus were identified. The French West Indies and mainland France are currently experiencing a flu epidemic. Since French Guiana is still largely unaffected, it is important to follow these recommendations: - Get vaccinated: this is available until February 28, 2015 - Wash your hands several times a day with soap or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer - Cover your mouth and nose with your sleeve or a disposable tissue when coughing or sneezing
