Key Points

Dengue

  • The dengue epidemic has been over in the territory since the end of August 2024. The number of confirmed cases decreased slightly in S09 and S10 in the West Coast and Cayenne Island sectors and stabilized in the Savanes sector.

Malaria

  • The number of malaria cases diagnosed in the healthcare system over the past two weeks was low and stable, with 8 cases of P. vivax (7 in S09 and 1 in S10, vs. 9 in total in S07 and S08), 7 of which were relapses.

  • Since the beginning of the year, new infections in the territory have occurred primarily in the gold mining area of the municipality of Kourou. A total of 54 cases have been recorded since the beginning of the year: 35 in January, 18 in February, and 1 during the first week of March.

Acute Respiratory Infections

  • The seasonal flu epidemic continues, with a decrease in the number of cases over the past two weeks compared to the previous two.

Diarrhea

  • Activity continues to decline in isolated municipalities (CDPS and local hospitals), and has been trending upward along the coast over the past two weeks (data from the Cayenne and Western Guyana hospitals).
