Key Points

Dengue

• Over the past two weeks, dengue activity in the region has been low, with 5 confirmed cases during this period (2 in week 49 and 3 in week 48). Three cases were from the Savanes sector, and two had an undetermined location. The identified serotype was exclusively DENV-2.

Malaria

• The number of malaria cases was moderate and slightly decreasing over the past two weeks, with 6 cases reported (2 in week 49 and 4 in week 48 vs. 12 in weeks 46 and 47). Among these 6 P. vivax cases, no relapses were recorded.

• A total of 159 malaria cases have been reported since the beginning of the year. After a relatively quiet period, malaria activity increased in November with 23 cases reported. Over the past two months, infections have occurred primarily in creeks/rivers and in gold panning areas.

Acute Respiratory Infections

• Over the past two weeks, the number of cases clinically suggestive of influenza-like illness in the CDPS, local hospitals, and the emergency departments of the three hospitals has risen sharply, a trend confirmed by the high number of positive test results for Influenza A H1N1pdm09 and H3N2 identified by laboratories. The virus is therefore actively circulating in the region, and a flu epidemic has been declared.

• Activity related to bronchiolitis and COVID-19 was low, with 4 positive samples for RSV and 1 for SARS-CoV-2 identified by laboratories during the same period.

Diarrhea

• Activity was stable and moderate in primary care centers and local hospitals, as well as in the emergency departments of the three hospitals.
