Dengue
Dengue activity was low in French Guiana, with one confirmed case of DENV-1 in the past two weeks, and very low activity in primary care centers and local hospitals, as well as in the emergency departments of the three university hospital sites.
Chikungunya
Since the detection of the first confirmed case of chikungunya (S2026-04), 44 cases have been confirmed in French Guiana, including 39 in the West Coast sector, where six outbreaks are currently being monitored. Among all the sectors comprising French Guiana, only the Western Coastal sector is in the epidemic outbreak phase; the others are all in the epidemiological surveillance phase.
Malaria
The number of malaria cases reported in the territory was moderate and relatively stable over the past two weeks, with 13 malaria episodes recorded (7 in S09 and 6 in S10) compared to a total of 11 in S08 and S07. These 13 cases were caused by P. vivax, including 6 relapses. Since the beginning of the year, there has been a 64% increase in the number of malaria cases compared to the same period in 2025. Most infections occurred in gold mining areas in the Savanes sector. In total, 74 cases of malaria have been recorded since the start of the year, including 42 in January, 26 in February, and 6 during the first week of March.
Acute Respiratory Infections
Influenza and influenza-like illness
Influenza activity was low in French Guiana, at levels comparable to those observed during the inter-epidemic period.
Bronchiolitis and COVID-19
Activity related to bronchiolitis and SARS-CoV-2 was low throughout the territory.
Diarrhea
Diarrhea activity was on the rise and moderate in primary care centers and local hospitals, and remained high in the emergency departments of the three University Hospital sites.
