Epidemiological Situation of Chikungunya in French Guiana. Update as of October 2, 2015.

Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

There was no circulation of the chikungunya virus in the West, Maroni, and Oyapock sectors during the last two weeks of September (S2015-38 and 39). However, on the island of Cayenne, outbreaks were still being identified, particularly in the municipality of Cayenne.

In the Kourou sector, the chikungunya virus continues to circulate at moderate levels, though higher than those observed at the start of the epidemic. This geographic area therefore remains in an epidemic phase. At the Kourou Medical and Surgical Center, activity has been low for several weeks.
