Dengue in French Guiana. Update as of July 4, 2024.
Key Points
The decline in dengue transmission in French Guiana, which began in early March, continues in Week 26 and has reached levels observed in early November 2023. Vigilance remains essential during this rainy season.
In Week 26, the trend is stable in the Savanes and Maroni sectors and declining in the Cayenne Island, Western Coast, and Eastern Interior sectors. The epidemic has ended in the Oyapock sector since Week 23.
Dengue activity in emergency departments is stable and accounts for 2% of overall activity.
Only the DENV-2 serotype was identified in Week 26 (100% DENV-2 among serotyped samples).
Since January 2023, 22,394 clinically suspected dengue cases, seen in general practice, at health centers (CDPS), or in local hospitals, and 11,308 confirmed cases have been recorded, including 15,477 consultations and 8,525 confirmed cases in 2024.
