Key points

HIV/AIDS

  • In 2020, due to the health crisis, participation in LaboVIH declined in the Grand-Est region as well as nationwide. Participation in the LaboVIH survey and the accurate reporting of new HIV diagnoses via e-DO by clinicians and laboratory professionals are essential for the production of reliable surveillance indicators.

  • Decrease in HIV testing in the Grand-Est region (serology tests and sales of HIV self-tests), particularly during the first lockdown.

  • The annual rate of new HIV diagnoses has remained stable since 2010 and is similar to that observed in metropolitan France excluding the Île-de-France region.

  • Decrease in the proportion of recent HIV infections, increase in HIV-positive diagnoses at an advanced stage, and increase in the proportion of infections among heterosexuals born in France in 2020 in the Grand-Est region.

  • A slight increase in the number of AIDS diagnoses, estimated at 12 per million inhabitants in 2020 in the Grand-Est region.

  • e-DO: increase in the proportion of reports covering both components in 2020, with an increase in the proportion of reports covering only the “clinician” component and a decrease in those covering only the “laboratory” component.

STI Screening (SNDS)

  • In 2020, regardless of the STI, a decline in the screening rate (for both men and women) was observed in the Grand-Est region as well as at the national level.

  • A decrease in the number of tests performed in private clinical laboratories for syphilis, gonorrhea, and Chlamydia trachomatis in 2020 in the Grand-Est region, mirroring the situation in France. The screening rate for these STIs remains higher among women.

CeGIDD Activity Data

  • In 2020, the participation rate of CeGIDDs in the SurCeGIDD surveillance program in the Grand-Est region was 86%.
