Key Points
Surveillance of Gastroenteritis
Hospital activity related to the treatment of gastroenteritis rose slightly in week 11 and remains slightly higher than the figures observed in 2016 during the same period.
According to data from the virology laboratories at the region’s university hospitals, rotavirus is currently the predominant circulating enterovirus.
Activity at SOS Médecins clinics has been trending downward since week 45 of 2016 but remains higher than what was observed during the same period in previous years.
Activity related to acute diarrhea is moderate for the Grand Est region within the Sentinelles Network.
Bronchiolitis Surveillance
Activity related to bronchiolitis in emergency departments is slightly higher than in the previous week and higher than what was observed last year during the same period.
Bronchiolitis activity reported by SOS Médecins associations remains stable.
The Grand Est region is no longer under an epidemic alert.
Influenza Surveillance
In week 11, influenza activity in emergency departments and SOS Médecins associations in the region remains stable at a low level.
The Grand Est region, like all other regions, is no longer experiencing an epidemic.
According to available virological data, influenza virus circulation remains very low.
Carbon monoxide poisoning surveillance
During weeks 10 and 11, there were 11 incidents of carbon monoxide poisoning involving 32 people.
Mortality surveillance
According to data available as of March 21, 2017, the period of excess mortality observed in the Grand Est region since week 49 of 2016 has ended.
Measles outbreak in Moselle
Since January 30, 2017, 64 cases of measles have been reported to the Grand Est Regional Health Agency (ARS). The majority of these cases are residents of Moselle.
